GENEVA, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- The volunteer recruitment for the 2026 Milano-Cortina Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games is open, the Games' organizing committee announced on its official website on Friday.
Around 18,000 "Team26", name of the volunteers of Milano-Cortina 2026, are expected during the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in Milan, Cortina, Valtellina and Val di Fiemme of Italy. The Olympic Winter Games will be held from February 6 to 22, 2026, and the Paralympic Winter Games are scheduled from March 6 to 15, 2026.
Milano-Cortina 2026 will be the most gender-balanced Games in history, and will use as many existing and temporary venues as possible.
The "Team26" volunteer program is open to all Italian residents and foreign nationals, and applicants must be at least 18 years old by November 1, 2025.
"Volunteers have always been the distinguishing element of every edition of the Games," Milano-Cortina 2026 president Giovanni Malago was quoted as saying in the statement. ■
